Austin Hopkirk: "I like your website! Attached are some photographs I took here in Northern Ireland and which may interest. Alas we only have eight species, you seem to be in bat heaven.
PICTURES INCLUDE:
Leisler's Nyctalus leisleri;
Brown long-eared Plecotus auritus;
Natterer's Myotis natterreri
You certainly do have a terrific place to live not least for wildlife. We've just had one of the wettest summers on record. I earn my living doing surveys for bats before development takes place and I'm on the committees of the Northern Ireland Bat Group, Bat Conservation Ireland and a rep. for the Bat Conservation Trust, so fortunately get to hear of some of conservation issues regarding bats. I have a pdf identification guide to the bats of Europe by Christian Dietz and Otto Von Helversen." (Text edited - Mimi Neumann)
Julio Balona: "Thanks for your great pictures and compliment. Even though we have more bats than Ireland, you have some interesting species, especially the Plecotus, wow what a beauty. Sounds great that you earn your living that way. You might not have many species of bats but at least it makes identification easier. We are rather far from producing the quality of ID kit you have (thanks for that)." (Text edited - Mimi Neumann)
